小嶋一浩賞について
日本を代表する建築家でありながら、若くして没した小嶋一浩（1958-2016）の功績を記念して「小嶋一浩賞」を設立する。
本賞は、建築家としてまた教育者として、社会に問題を提示し、人が主役となる建築を目指した氏の勇気ある意思を継承するものである。
そして、多くの困難に直面している21世紀に、建築を取り巻くすべてのことに対し常に多くの人と議論した氏の姿勢を引き継ぐために、本賞は作品賞ではなく若い創作者の将来を称揚するものとし、建築に関わる全ての活動と思想を対象として顕彰する。またその選定は、運営規程に則りより広く開かれたものとし、この議論の場が建築を通した社会の再構築に勇気と希望を持てるものとなることを目指す。
審査の理念
小嶋一浩は建築空間に対する強固な信頼を持っていた。氏の生前の活動に敬意を表し、審査においては、以下のキーワードに合致する若き創作者・理論家を探し当てるといった困難な目標をあえて掲げるものとする。審査の対象は日本のみならずアジア・世界までをも含む。
1）建築空間に対する強固な信頼
2）具体的な空間を介した論理的アプローチ
3）権威や常識に拘束されない「自由な心」
4）「他者に対する」好奇心
5）熟慮と寛容に基づいたリーダーシップ
審査の対象
具体的な空間創出によって、社会を変革しようとする個人の試みに与えられるものとする。建築家に限らず建築創造に関わる理論家も含む。建築の分野であることは限定しないが、その試みは一過性のものではなく、ある継続性をもって社会に関わる事象を対象とする。
賞のサイクル
2年ごととする。2年を1サイクルとして賞を選考・授与する。
毎年10月13日に小嶋一浩賞に関わるシンポジウムを開催する。
審査方法
「国内外の有識者から任命された推薦委員による推薦」＋「応募による自薦」による候補者を対象に、上記審査委員が審査選考を行う。

About the Kazuhiro Kojima Award
The Kazuhiro Kojima Award is being established to commemorate the achievements of Kazuhiro Kojima (1958-2016), one of the most important Japanese architects of his generation.
The award honors his spirit and courage as an architect and professor, finding solutions to certain problems in our society by creating architectural works that emphasize the vital role people’s activities play in their lives.
To encourage the next generation to follow the example set by Kojima, an architect who always talked with people about all issues surrounding architecture, in a century in which we face untold challenges, this award will honor a young creator not just for architectural work, but any kind of architectural creation, including thought and theory. We have established a selection process that is guaranteed to be open and transparent, and to create opportunities for discussions to generate courage and hope in rebuilding society through architecture.
Concept of the Award
Kazuhiro Kojima believed firmly in the power of architectural space. To commemorate his lifetime efforts in architecture, we have set ourselves the difficult goal of finding a young creator or theorist who represents the following key qualities. The awardee will be selected from around the world.
1. An architect who believes firmly in the power of the architectural space.
2. An architect who presents a logical approach through architectural spaces
3. An architect who fosters innovative, out-of-the-box thinking, bound by neither authority nor conventions
4. An architect who has empathy and concern for others.
5. An architect who demonstrates leadership based on consideration, tolerance and inclusiveness
Candidates
The award will be given to a creator for their efforts to bring about a positive change for society through the creation of an architectural space. The field of creation does not need to be limited to architecture. However, the creation and efforts to change society must not be transient but continuous.
Awardee
The award will be given to one awardee every other year. The committee will hold an annual symposium on the Kazuhiro Kojima Award on October 13 every year.
Selection Process
The judges on the Selection Committee will choose an awardee from among candidates who are either recommended by a member of the Recommendation Committee, comprised of experts of various fields around architecture at home and abroad, or are self-recommended. The members of the Recommendation Committee are decided by the Selection and Executive Committees.
